At 12 minutes and 24 seconds, Ben Robinson and his dog Blake beat the longstanding World record for 5 kilometers by 13 seconds in 2017. The record was set by Kenenisa Bekele from Ethiopia in 2004 – without a dog.
Ben was an active runner in his teenage years, but injuries stopped his progression. He returned to running in his twenties, and for the last five years he has been running with dogs in Canicross. Along with his father, who is also active in the sport, he has six dogs (soon eight, as they are keeping two puppies) that compete.
